Thank you for visiting our VaRiA-website. VaRiA stands for ‘Vascular Risk Assessment’, which means as much as ‘to determine the risk for vascular disease’. VaRiA is composed of 4 Limburgian research groups that work together on the development of tests to determine the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases and to define which therapy has the largest success rate. This is called ‘personalized medicine’.
Two out of the 4 research groups are located in Belgian Limburg (Hasselt University) and two groups in Dutch Limburg (Maastricht University). This collaboration is financed by Interreg Flanders-The Netherlands and the provinces of Dutch and Belgian Limburg. Interreg is an initiative of the European Union to promote collaboration between these two regions.
Furthermore, VaRiA collaborates with several small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and has founded the TransTech Limburg-platform, where we would like to share our knowledge with all interested parties from our region and abroad. Within this platform, collaborations with other universities, companies or interested parties such as the Dutch Heart Foundation can be set up. To enhance collaborations between the partners of VaRiA and the region we invite all interested parties to participate in our resonance group, our workshops and other activities to brainstorm on how we can optimally implement our results. Students are cordially invited as well.
Please have a further look on our VaRiA-website, where we present background information on our project and present our results. Also, you can subscribe for our newsletter on the right side of this page.
